A Level record-breakers, 2018

Following a record-breaking set of A-Level results last year, including strong and highly significant value added, St Mary’s is delighted to report that this year’s students have done even better!  The school is delighted to see increases in both students’ average point scores and the proportion of A*/B grades, enabling successful and prestigious university placements for so many. These increases are especially pleasing when the national A* & A*/B proportions have actually fallen.  Particular success was enjoyed by Alessio Messina (A*, A*, B), Stephen Walsh (A, A, A), Alessandro Augello (A, A, A), Kamil Bobrowski (A*, A*, A, A), Sam Cunningham (A*, A*, A), Reece Gow (A*, A, B), Celia Pope (A*, A*, B), Serena Ittoo (A*, B, B), Sofia Cuffaro (A*, A, A), Sean McGeady (A*, A, A, A) and Lara Mattaliano (A*, A, B).

Headteacher Andrew Celano said “I am absolutely thrilled for the students, and very proud of them all.  Today marks an acknowledgement of their exceptional academic successes, and this now sits alongside their exceptional contributions to the wider school life and the community.  The students were a pleasure to work with and I would like to thank their talented teachers, and also the commitment and steadfast support of all our parents, parishes and the wider community.”

Director of Sixth Form, Victoria Workman said, “I am really thrilled with this year’s results and so proud of the academic achievements of all our Year 13s – they have been supported by an amazingly committed staff.”
