Learning Support

Learning Support run intervention programmes in morning and afternoon form times for specific pupils. These are run with one of the team of LSAs (Learning Support Assistants) or HTLA’s and the groups are kept to a small number if students. These sessions are designed to meet specific needs of pupils as identified in internal or external assessments. The interventions and the progress made by pupils are reviewed every term so adjustments can be made.

Learning Support run a paired reading club two mornings a week in form time where invited pupils are partnered by a sixth form pupil to read and discuss a book of their choice in the Library. Paired reading club runs on Tuesday and Friday morning form times.

Lunch time clubs are run by the Learning Support team in A1. Literacy Support lessons in Key Stage 3 and 4 are planned to directly support their English curriculum as well as building on their basic Literacy skills which are needed in all National Curriculum subjects.
