SMA - St Mary’s Association

The SMA is a voluntary group of parents and school staff dedicated to

• fostering positive links between parents and staff

• providing opportunities for parents and staff to work together in the service of the school and wider communities

• raising funds to provide our students with extra facilities and equipment to aid their education.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the SMA fundraising events over the past year. After another hugely successful Motor Show we have now reached our fundraising target to purchase a new minibus for the school.

A very warm welcome is extended to anyone who would like to be actively involved within the SMA. We realise that not everyone can devote time regularly but parents and staff can think about their skills and how they might be able to help occasionally throughout the year.  If you would like more information please email us on sma@stmarys.net

The reason I volunteer on the SMA is because I feel it's important to give back to the community, and in this case, the school community. It is also an opportunity to enhance the children's learning experience through the purchase of additional items, not available via the school budget. The more parents join the SMA, the more fundraising gains momentum, which is why it's so important to contribute in whatever capacity is possible for you.

Fundraising

The Giving Machine is a simple, fast and efficient way to support the SMA and other good causes. You need only sign up with your name, email address and a password - no financial details are collected from you – and it will not cost you a penny; all donations are made from the retailers you shop online with. Donations are collected from shops and passed to the SMA by The Giving Machine – we do not see any information about where people shop or what they buy.

A bit more detail on The Giving Machine registration process is:

Lost Property

Please ensure all your property is clearly labelled with your First name and Surname. When students lose property they should visit and look in the classroom or area where they believe the property was left. If you misplaces any PE kit in the Sports Hall they should first speak to a member of the PE staff to access “Lost and Found” in the PE department, lost footwear is contained in cupboards behind the Sixth Form adjacent to the Sixth Form Block. There is also a general "Lost Property" red wheelie bin opposite the staff ladies toilets by the main school hall. At the end of each full term the lost property at both locations will be emptied and the contents will be brought back to Reception, any named item will be returned, unlabelled items will be disposed of.

Motor Show 2017

The SMA regrets that we will not be holding a motor show in 2017 or 2018. This is due to logistical issues within the school – not least an exciting programme of refurbishment works which will greatly enhance the learning environment at St Mary’s. We’d like to thank everyone who has been involved in the Motor Show over the last 18 years – our dealerships, sponsors, exhibitors and the thousands of visitors who have all made the show so successful. We know the Motor Show holds a special place in your hearts and we hope to back with another fantastic show in the future.
